Default single VS dual exhaust

what would be a better performance option for a 5.3 with a tune and LT headers. a true dual 2.25" with x pipe system or a single 3 inch exhaust?

The cross-sectional area of each is roughly the same. I'm not into the fluid dynamics of exhaust gases, so I'm sure comparing only that value isn't exactly an apples to oranges comparison.

The performance is going to be pretty much equal. I like the sound of duals, so on my 4.8 I did 2.25" duals with an x-pipe, but it would have been cheaper to just do a single 3". It all comes down to personal preference I say.
