Default Silverado SS testdrive

This is a fun testdrive. I must say, this is the one part i enjoy about my job . (detailings cars)

First off, w/ a GVWR of 6400lbs, she's a bit on the hefty side...but she will still speak w/ a mean voice. The exhaust tone @ around 4000rpm is very nice. Seems like its got a diff muffler then the regular trucks and it sounds a little more "thunderous" so to speak.

Its a very nimble truck too. Taking corners and just every day maneauvering is a breeze. And cruzing on the HW @ 70mph it felt like you were floating. The truck is very nice. W/ SS badges above the air bag shutoff switch, and w/ SS embroidered on the headrests, and white face gauges, Chevrolet did a decent job of hooking this truck up. Altho Imo, it needs to be RWD only, and a regular cab, this is a nice machine. Even if you're not looking to buy one, go test drive one if you can. They're a bit shocking, esp for a truck that heavy. The low end power does give ya a kick backwards...

All in all, a very fun machine to drive, and she's not all that bad to look @ neither

ya, i test drove one a few weeks ago. i still like my truck though. i know what you mean about the low end ***** that it had. i am so used to my truck that only pulls hard high end. i didn't really get too hard on the SS because my salesman was riding with me. i wanted to bring my gtech with me but again, salesman. there were many reasons why i wouldn't by the truck:
- i off road a few times a year
- leather seats
- center console (new design )
- a better one will probably be out in the future
- and of course $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Well, i detail 'em and on occasion they allow the detail guys to fill 'em up...i got the job this time . They usually like the mechanics to do it cause they can see how it goes, no factory faults kinda testing...

I like the SS embroidery in the headrest, kinda a cool touch (but should be in a better stiching, like a silver or white to throw it off on the ebony seats). And i like the chrome/silver SS badge on the console, another cool touch. But, i HATE the new a/c control setup.

And its got some massive low end power. W/ a blower on this thing, it would haul some SERIOUS ***. I still wish it was reg cab/short bed and RWD, but hopefully Chevy wont disappoint us in the near future. My parents have a 2000 Suburban w/ the LQ4 in it, and for some reason it seems like theres a .5-1 sec delay in WOT throttle response, but in the SS, it pushs your *** in the seat w/ a blip of the throttle.

Like i said previously, all in all, its a sweet truck. Very maneauverable for a heavy beast, but personally, it needs something to really set it off besides the SS badges. It just looks too much like an Ex-cab LT Silverado w/ 20s and a diff airdamn. And it performed better than i thought it would...our SSR hits the production line in May/June, and our CTS-V should be arriving about that time too...maybe i'll have another post to add then
