Default offset grinding the crank

For the new motor I am planning on boring it .030 and off set grinding the crank to sqeeze out another 4 to 5 cubes out of it. How much can I off set the crank? I am trying for about a 335ci motor just to be a bit different. And also since the pistons will be made for this, what is the rod length difference on a 5.7 and a 5.3?

I thought about doin this on a 6.0 but that project is on hold due to lack of funds. Custom pistons from srp are about 800 bucks. By changing the stroke with an off set grind I could get off the shelf pistons and get a few more inches at the same time. Sounds good but I didn't look into it enough to see if it will work. It will be interesting to hear how it works out.

Same rods in the 5.3 and 5.7 engines. The 5.3 block can be bored out to accept LS1 aftermarket pistons (3.905). There are a several guys who have done this for their cars. This will give you 347 cubes, which may not sound as cool as 335, but will put out more. Plus the LS1 pistons will be available off the shelf for less money and will work with stock rods if you wanted. The 5.3 crank will be fine.

You can offset the crank and get more if you wanted. Contact Texas Speed and Performance and ask them about their offset ground project they have been working on. You can look it up in the internal engine section. Sounds mighty tempting.
