Default Shaner Ported TB Installed

For those of you that was wondering if this was a worthwhile mod. I finally got mine in yesterday. Install went smooth. My stock unit had to have a whole punched in the blade for the idle to be just right. With the new one, no hole and it idles fine. Although I may raise the idle slightly, 25 rpm tops.

I was hoping to pick up some of the power lost when I had to remove my electric fans and re-use the stock clutch fan. Most of this lost power was down low. Well, I did pick up some low end power with the ported tb, but by far the biggest gains to be seen with the Ported TB is higher up in the RPM Band. 2000 RPMs and up and its different motor. Appears to pull much harder up through the rpms and to the shifts. In addition to this the throttle response is not hugely different but is crisper than with the stock unit installed.

All in all I'd say at least for me, it was a good mod and would gladly do it again. I'm hoping to get some dyno time here soon to see some numbers.

Now I just need to make up my mind if I want to go and re-install my electric fans or not. The motors have been replaced with new units. I think I may wind up selling them though.

good deal on the t/b, to bad you don't want to run the fans, but they only really help you in the summer heat, in the winter its the same unless of course your running wot all the time lol laters.

Good deal I may look into doing that. I was thinking of getting the bo-white cause its cheaper and people have basically have the same results but you drive-by-wire guys are kinda limited.

Yeah, I had wanted to go wit Bo White, but he doesn't do the drive by wire units.

But I am very pleased with the Shaner. It feels really awesome pulling that hard up top. Really it feels like it helped everywhere except for right off the line.

Kev, yeah, I just can't make up my mine about the damn fans. I really want to go back with them, guess I'm just nervous about them now. I'm going to hold onto them for a while until I decide or get talked into re-using them. Whatever happens first. lol.

SierraCrew, did you have your stock TB ported, or did he have some of the DBW TB's in stock?

Red,

Bo White is on LS1Tech. But I hear he is starting to only do so many at a time. Like 20 here, and then take a break for a few months, etc...... Semi-Retirement or something like that.

04, I bought a used stock throttle body from a member here and sent it up there. From what I understand, he doesn't have any core units yet, so you have to send yours to get done. I see your in Denton, Shaner is in Arlington, he may be able to get yours done in a day, or maybe try to contact him and have him do it while you wait. not sure if he can do it like that or not, but would be worth finding out.
