Shakedown dyno run...
#1
I made a few shakedown runs at Aerocomp in Sanford. They have an AWD Mustang dyno that just barely fits our trucks. Made three total pulls (and 2 aborted because the truck downshifted).
I had to cut it short because:
1) I set a spark plug wire ON FIRE
on the first run
2) That plug wire started shorting out and keeping me stuck at max 5600 rpm
3) was melting the exhaust hoses
4) tranny got close to 200*
5) I ran out of time (had to get to work)
I'll post the dyno graph of the best run tonight (made 2 at around 14psi, 1 at 8 psi), but won't give the numbers here because of the poll. I will say I'm impressed, ecstatic, and can hardly sit still, and the dyno ops were floored...
Truck is now loud as .... well it's loud. I looked and the cut out is still connected, but it doesn't seem like I can open or close the cutout. Turns out I killed my QTP cutout.
When I set the plug wire on fire, I'd made two aborted pulls (downshifted on me) and then the full pull). Manifolds were cheery red... Ended up getting some Crane Firewire's from Roger Vinci.
I might need to step up to some headers.
Best run: Pump gas, ~14psi, meth, FMIC, 90* ambient, 18* - 15.5 @peak torque - 16 at shift. 594awhp / 693awtq.

8psi number was 440awhp.

600/700 is sweet!
Forgive my turbo ignorance - Why is the torque curve so drastic? Would a different turbine or housing flatten or extend the power any?
Eyeballing the graph, I'm not sure the curves mathmatically agree.

I think my hp goals are in the bag with a few more pounds. I'm glad I won't have to try for 20psi
I need to get in touch with STS on the turbo -- it seems like I might be past what the GT70 can do.

The other is probably because he had to start up in the rpms to keep from downshifting. A longer rpm interval graph probably wouldn't look so drastic. The numbers cross at 5252rpm so they seem right. The 3940rpm point also works out right.

That's some damn nice power Erik. There are getting to be some crazy SS's around now.

those are some prety sweet numbers. that 70 is definately too small. if you could hit it at a lower rpm i bet you would see another 100+ft/lbs.
what are you tuning with? i have my tune set up so my tow haul button is for the dyno. it will shift into 3rd and lock up by 40mph and stay there up to 160mph. makes it real easy to use the dyno. i can send you some screen shots of what i changed if you want to set that up.
