servo

A servo is an apply piston for the transmission, and in the 4L60E it is on the passanger side of the case.
Well it basically applies the force to engage the 2-4 band as well as tighten up the other gears. There are two servos in the 4L60E. One intermediate and one overdrive.
I used to have a '96 Z71 2 door 'Hoe and a '99 Z71 and they didn't come with the 'Vette servo. My new '01 has it. Someone on this board also has an '01, put in the 'Vette servo and noticed no difference (b/c (s)he already has the servo. I don't believe the '00's have them.
You can get just the 'Vette servo for about $15 for your '00. Or you can go for the billet servo for about $70 that has a 35% more holding capacity than the 'Vette one!
Hope that helps...

Glad I could help. I dunno if it will improve ETs or not...I would think so as it shifts quicker. You can install it under one hour or pay ~$40 to a tranny place. It would make your trans last longer as the shifts are going to be faster (tighter) resulting in less heat build up.

I don't think the $15 one will yield too much difference. I can tell its there, but I notice many weird things about vehicles. The difference is slight the part throttle shifts are cleaner and the WOT are a bit better. I'd just go with the billet if you are doing it.

Well, I seem to be the tranny guy here so...YES. Drive an older 99 or so, then drive a new '01+. Someone on this board put a 'Vette servo in their '01 truck and noticed NO difference. New ones have them, old ones don't.
If you have the older non-'Vette servo truck, just bypass that one in lieu of a billet one. You will thank yourself for not wasting $20 for the part and $40 to have it installed.

Well, **** if I know then. Maybe it is a hit or miss. With or without towing package? All I can confirm for sure is that my '01 has it and the I previously owned '99 didn't.
Now if you put an additional spring in the servo it would be tigher, that is what the TransGo does...
