Service Engine Soon

Hey Ryan23silverado,
Will I have to reset my HPPIII settings to stock before I disconnect the battery? Or will the settings still be there if I disconnect/connect.
I cut the lower end of the EGR before the groove. Maybe I put the rubber seal the wrong way???
I'll try and re-seat the EGR also. Thanks for the info!

If you cut the pipe wrong or didn't fit it back in the intake, it will idle higher than before. Do you notice this? It sounds like you did the EGR earlier, so I doubt this is the issue.
Reset your PCM, drive it around. If the light comes back, take it somewherre or find someone with autotap.
Did you do anything else? plugs, move / unhook wires, MAF connector?

I will do the reset. Should I just disconnect the battery and wait awhile or remove the fuses? The idle is the same ~500-600 on the tach. I also took off the UPD (after the light came on) to do the ram air mod on the box (air box is now much cooler).
Again guys, I appreciate all the help and advice that has been given. The only problem is I don't know anyone in Hawaii that has an Autotap. If I was on the continent (we call it "mainland" in Hawaii) then I would just drive to one of your home. Why I even think that Fast4.8 would help me install my ASM's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> If I lived near him!
Mahalo!

Anyone got the "service Engine Soon" light to come on by just putting in fuel cleaner (Berrymens)? I also recently did the EGR mod. Can the combination of both be causing this? I hope it is just the fuel, then I can just wait until the next few fill-ups to recycle and use up all the fuel cleaner.

try cycling that fuel additive through, run like an eighth tank or so of back to regular fuel, and dissconnect your negative battery cable for 15 min. This should clear the SES code from the truck. Also, I had no problems with my truck setting off any codes with the EGR mod, so I don't think that mod is what made the code come on. Just some ideas... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

hopefully you didnt cut to much of the EGR tube off. if you did then there would be a small hole sending air out of the manifold.when i did my EGR mod i didnt screw it back in all the way and it sounded like it was camming. pretty cool but bad on performance.

Well I did the reset but the light is still on. I guess I will have to do a few fill-ups and get that fuel cleaner out. If that doesn't work then I may have to take it to a shop and get it checked out.
