Because we wanted 5.3 numbers using the LS327 and our new 5.3 heads.

I've got an 04 Z71 Tahoe, 148k miles, looks like it has 60k miles, still pulls the boat and shifts strong, but I can't believe it will be doing that @ 200k+ miles.

Definitely interested in the outcome!!

Well guys! Install is complete!!! Motor sounds great! Truck drives like a dream! Cam sounds incredible...much more noticeable than I had thought it would be. Required minimal tuning to catch idle, and safely drive around. Goes on the dyno this week for the WOT tune. Will post those #s as soon as I get them.

I did run the truck at our local 1/8th mile track Friday night BEFORE THE NEW MOTOR WENT IN for fun. Keep in mind, this was done on a HURT motor. Yes, it drove there and drove back, but I do not believe it was at full potential, so we will not be using these numbers as reference to the new setup.

Only made 3 passes but each got progressively faster. At 7000 DA , truck went a best of 10.92 @ 65mph (1/8th) on a 2.5 60'. Sea level corrected, it shows 9.82 @ 71. We'll see what it runs next time out and correct those numbers as well, to get a general idea of what it picked up.

Also, I got flow numbers back from the machine shop this morning.

Went and did a little driving last night. Still putting on break-in miles. After almost 100 miles since the swap, it is getting 16.4mpg average. This is mostly stop-n-go city miles, with maybe 20-30 highway. This is still un-tuned!!! Truck runs like a dream, very very happy with the cam selection. It could use some converter, but its not something you would HAVE to do.

Once I get a good camera, I'll get a walk-around vid up, so everyone cam hear the camshaft.

Can't wait to see the final results. Would be nice if you could find a bone stock truck similar to yours to use as a comparison for base numbers.

Your cam comparison sounds very similar to mine. Get that thing on the dyno and tuned already, like to see what the numbers are..

Need to get some more miles on the new shortblock before I feel safe hammering on it. Hope to get it on the rollers before the weekend tho!

So are these heads based on 862 castings? And what were the flow numbers? I can't see them on my phone
