screen vs. descreened, ran some tests

Bryan, After re-reading this, I am a little confused by your first post. You said "with the screen out" on one line, the other line says "w/o the screen". I can't really tell what you are trying to say

richard u picky bastard look at what time i posted that, nobody should be allowed to post something like that as early as that
well to clarify things the first one was without the screen and the second one was with it

Bryan, one more question: On your Ltrims, were those #s before and after yout WOT runs or during?
So far it looks like WITH the screen, Ltrims are right on during normal driving, and WOT. WITH OUT the screen, things get funny. It is running lean during normal driving and richer during WOT.
Bryan, seriously, do the same test on your mom's avalanche. It would be nice to know how it is on a stock vehicle.

yeah, im gonna try and get a test on the avalanche. still have to take its maf off to donate it to my truck anyways. but what the ltrims were reading seemed to be the same before and after my wot runs (not during), no major change, just still really close to zero.
as for the tests on my truck, yep you got it. overall it just runs perfect with the screen in

Strange results from the test..I would try again to be sure and also check timing..YOu should get some timing increase with tricking the maf air flow..
First, your L trims should go UP not down..Never seen L trims drop from TRICKING the maf air flow..Did you do this test back to back, within minutes of each other or on seperate days? Just curious..Also did you unplug the battery by any chance? If the battery was unplugged, it could take 20 miles or so for everything to get back to its normal range..Just curious..
I may have to get my atap back out and check my three mafs I have..One stock, one W/O screen and one ported without screen..Its been a while since I checked.. Interesting info..

yeah, try it on urs brooke, i think it would be better to try it on a different truck anyways. i did do them back w/ the battery unplugged, i didnt know if that would be better or worse, guess not.
is ur ported maf on the truck or was it on ur car? just curious

w/ the screen out my o2s looked like they were staying around .92 - .93, and my ltrims were at around 8-12%
w/o the screen my o2s looked like they were around .875 - .890, and my ltrims stayed anywhere from 0% - 3%

Were these tests performed at WOT? If so I would leave the screen out! You want Ltrims at "0" or damn close to it and the O2's looked awesome with out the screen? Was there a timing difference?

i dont know if i logged timing, have to check, know i should have.
to clear things up, the first one is w/o the screen, the second one was w/ the screen in.
wouldnt u rather have ur o2s from .875-.89, then from .92-.93 (assuming ur not using nitrous)

I ran mine with the screen removed and the hpp3 tunning set on 93 octane.. WOT L trims are 10.4% and timing is 31 degrees.. O2s at WOT are running .875 ish..
I have a ported 80mm truck MAF.. Not the one from my car but a new truck MAF that I ported.. It runs great without the hpp3 and I get timing increase from 22 deg. stock to 28-29 with the ported maf..O2s stay in the 890-905 range with this ported MAF... L trims do run in the 19 to 21% range though.. I don`t recommend porting the 80mm TB.. Its tricky and if you remove to much of the center divider you will ruin the MAF.. The screen should be plenty ,, especially with a HPP3..
I will try and get some ATAP runs with the stock MAF with screen soon..
I have heard to keep L trims near 0 but personally have never run my Ls1`s that way.. Usually I don`t like to go over the 19% range..Still gives plenty of fuel adjustment on an N/A motor..

OK Badass, keep the screen dood!! High .8's on the O2's is awesome and "0" on the ltrims is the place to be looks like the screen serves a purpose.
