That and your running a Hypertech anyway. So now its just a tad leaner than it was with the screen.

i have had mine out since 1200 miles and at 8700 it has had no problem, i have 4 friends with theirs out and no problems there either. i have not noticed any gains per say but maybe and a big maybe, some better throttle response. my advice, leave it in. if i hadnt already taken mine out i would have left it. although it would be nice for a dyno test on this one to clear up the confusion with n00b's IMO

Ask any competent tuner how much of a pain in the *** it is to tune when that screen is gone.

Fueling is a bit harder to tune when you take it out. I have to log tons more data to get a steady reading when the screen is gone, the airflow is more turbulant and its hard as hell to get a smooth maf curve out of it.

i read this in a book, it is not needed for f-bodys or corvettes becuase their air intake tubes are fairly strain and provide an accurate reading for the maf and so it is not needed, but because the truck has more bends especially right before the maf, it straitens out the incoming air to provide more accurate readings, so if you remove it, the maf will come up with false readings and tuning would be needed, it is like those little bumps on airplane wings so LEAVE IT IN!

This guy here sums it right up! This is EXACTLY why you keep the screen. I work in a Garage and we see this alot with 16 and 17 year old kids bring their truck by and have me hook the Tech II Scan Tool up to it and find out why their engine light is on.

Usually....us 30 year old guys....just leave the damn screen alone.

I think there should be a sticky that reads "Don't de-screen your MAF!!!"...seems this question pops up every couple of weeks and gets a dozen or so replies, most of which say "Don't do it"...
