Default S&P motor plates

I've installed the S&P motor plates to my LM7 and clamshells. The truck I have is a 95 GMC Sierra. Today I tried to install the engine, but its not working. One side will line up perfect, but the other side is off. Is it normal to grind the clamshells down in order to fit to the motor mounts? I've been grinding and checking for fit for the better part of the day and still need to grind more. What do you think?

i built a set of adapter plates out of 1/4'' plate for my 6.0 swap into a 86 model c10 and had the same problem... i just did a little grinding on both clam shells until it would drop all the way over both mounts but i still had to fight the bolts a little to get them to pass through the mounts.
