Default ?'s on ELECTRIC FAN and ASP pulleys

Any of you guys out there with these little add-ons? Wondering if the've got any bang for the buck in them. If so let me know what kind of fan you are using and if it has given any trouble to your ride. Also with the ASP pulleys, are there any charging problems? Where is a good place to order either of these parts?
Oh yea, Do you guys have part numbers?
Thanks, <img border="0" alt="[Truck]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_truck.gif" />

I had the ASP underdrive pulley and overdrive alternator pulley installed. There is no charging problem whatsoever. For the price it is a good mod (~11hp). You will also have to change your pulley and AC belts.
These are the part #'s:
49-549900
ASP HARMONIC BALANCER PULLEY, '99-up GM TRUCK, 4.8, 5.3, 6.0
49-540120
ASP OVERDRIVE ALTERNATOR PULLEY / LS1

I hope this helps.

I have both. FAL 250 dual electric fans and the ASP UD/UD pulley set.

I love the fans and the pulley provided good HP/TQ improvement. They pulley, however, needs to be at 900 rpm or higher to maintain 14 volts. This could be a problem for some who have large spot/fog/flood lights or pounding stereos without a decent cap.

I will ben having my idle adjusted to 900 rpm for the cam anyway so this is not a concern of mine.

Hey Oxidizr,

I've read many of your posts and you have been a great source of info for me. Since we are on the subject about the electric fans, do you have to be electronically inclined to install one or will it be a simple bolt-on just by following the instructions? I'm thinking of doing this after I attempt to install my ASM headers (still on back order <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> ). Then after the fans maybe a TC.

Thanks for all your info.

I run a single 16" s-curve electric fan on a 5.3 with all of the bolt ons. I have no problems, but I'm a 2wd reg.cab short box and don't pull any trailers.

i just bought some lt1 fans off of ebay. does anybody know if i can have a toggle switch like this:
-one switch would turn the fans only on if it got over like 185* or whatever the thermostat is set at.
-then if i switch it the other way the fans would come on automatically. like when i am in the stagging lanes but the truck is off.

does this make sense?

YES, you could do that and as a matter of fact all that you would need is a two position "on-on" type switch. Essentially, all you would do is place the switch and before the fan relay on the signal side of relay cicuit. In one position power is only supplied when the ignition is on (this is how "normal" operation would be wired)and in the other you have constant + fed through the signal side. This set-up would still utilize thermostat for "auto" operation.

Crude diagram but should help illustrate my point.

I think I'll go the cheaper route <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> . If it's not too much trouble can you send a diagram? Thanks!

That is similar to the way I have my LS1 fans wired up. I have the thermo switch wired through ign-run and the manual switch in ign-acc so I still have to have the key in the acc position to run the fans with the truck off (just incase if forget to turn them off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> ) I am thinking go totally rewireing them shortly and adding seperate fan controls and an A/C relay since summer is here.
