Default running with cats off?

would it be ok to drive my truck if I cut my cats off and gutted them but left them off to take it to the place where i would get them welded back on? Basicly it would be like normal driving with cut outs open.

probably will throw a code, but that's an easy fix after the work is done.

Wont hurt a thing just throw an ses light possibly but just disconnect the battery for a bit and it will clear it or take it to autozone I believe they can clear codes.

If your O2 sensors are too close to the open end of the pipe they will read high levels of oxygen from the open air and adjust accordingly. I remember reading a post about someone who did it (open headers) and it made their truck run like ****. If you have some length from the O2 sensors and the open air I think you'd be fine.
