Default Run the truck today and...

Well I finally got the tranny back and installed it friday night. Today at the track I run the truck and it runs the same times as it did before with the stock converter????? The only diff. is I had to ease in it not to break the tires loose, and the Hypershit was programed to run 87 octain. I run 9.60s before and the best today was a 9.59. The 60fts were off about 3 tenths. Is there that much diffrence in the 93 and 87 octain tune? I was looking for some 9.30s or so. So does the 87 tune and easin into it make that much of a diffrence?

After a converter install you HAVE to run sticky tires or slip it into 4wd or else your times could even get worse than before the install.

I doubt the HP diff. between an 87 and 93 octane tune is going to be all that much unless it was a fully custom tune.

Yea I know I have got to get some sticky tires. But when I eased into it, it didnt spin at all. Just wondering really how big of a diffrence this made.

There can be a HUGE differance between easing into a converter and actually stalling it up really high and hitting it. I've gone from 1.8 60's to 1.57 60's by doing that in my T/A

The best way to tell if a mod helped is by MPH if you are lacking traction.

ET is a function of chassis and traction.
MPH is function of power.

Well I was just kinda pissed and didnt really look at the mph. I will have to dig up the slips. The tranny was a little over $2200, The night of the install was a bad night, were all drinking and the converter spun out of the pump during the install some how. But we busted the pump. $176x2 for shiping and $300 for the pump. So was around 3k give or take a few. Oh and went with the TCI Streetfighter 3000.

You might concider putting the year and type truck you run in your sig.....when I added my stall and sc truck would run over one second slower in the quarter mile compared to launching in 4HI...if you do have a 4x4? Make sure all four tires are the same dia. There is actually less stress on the rear ends as you are splitting the force between them...I have not heard of anyone blowing a transfercase doing this either....ask parish8 about this
