The guy doing my machine work is going to use one of my head gaskets when bolting on the torque plate for boring the block, he said he wouldn't recommend reusing it after it's been bolted on twice. Correct or being overly cautious?

 

Overly cautious. Cometics are reuseable and way too expensive to throw away after just mocking up the engine.

 

are the cometics setup for a smaller bore than what the engine will end up with?

 

No, they are 4.03

 

how much is he gonna torque down the bolts? should be okay if it's not too much pressure

 

i wouldnt toss them just for that.

 

I would reuse them on a NA engine, but just for piece of mind, I replaced them after we pulled the heads during our engine tear down and inspection.
