Default Restarting motor that has set up a year

I just picked up an 04 Escalade ESV with the LQ9 as a donor for a swap into my 86 C-10 stepside. It has been sitting for about a year without being started. I was told when I got it that the fuel pump was bad. The couple had been going through a divorce and neither was willing to have it fixed as it was an extra vehicle for them. I would like to get it running to make sure there are no issues before pulling the motor. Is there anything I should do to it before I try to start it? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well if it hasn't turned over in a year the cylinder walls are probably pretty dry. I would pull the plugs and spray a little wd-40 in there. Let it sit awhile pull the intake pipe off and spray some fuel in the intake. Then turn it over. It won't run long, but without a fuel pump hooked up it won't.

Thanks, I'll pull the plugs and give it a little squirt.

Thanks guys. I just didn't want to get in a hurry to get it started and not do something that I should have.
