Restarting motor that has set up a year
#1
I just picked up an 04 Escalade ESV with the LQ9 as a donor for a swap into my 86 C-10 stepside. It has been sitting for about a year without being started. I was told when I got it that the fuel pump was bad. The couple had been going through a divorce and neither was willing to have it fixed as it was an extra vehicle for them. I would like to get it running to make sure there are no issues before pulling the motor. Is there anything I should do to it before I try to start it? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well if it hasn't turned over in a year the cylinder walls are probably pretty dry. I would pull the plugs and spray a little wd-40 in there. Let it sit awhile pull the intake pipe off and spray some fuel in the intake. Then turn it over. It won't run long, but without a fuel pump hooked up it won't.

I bought a 98 Dakota that Sat in a field for 3 years. Didnt do anything but put a fuel pump in it. Drove it for 2 1/2years. No issues. Sold it and guy still drives it. Never smoked or anything.
