Default Replacing oil pickup oring in the truck

Long story short, the wrong oil pump pickup o-ring was installed during the motor swap on my truck, and I am relying on the truck for transportation for the time being, so i cant just pull it all apart. the lifters get pretty noisy sometimes and i cant imagine it is very good for the bearings either.

has anyone replaced the pickup o-ring with the motor in place?

I have done this in a lsx/s10 but I had to pull the front cover. im hoping to avoid that so i can keep the turbo stuff and coolant untouched.

for the purposes of this exercise, the motor and truck are basically stock 02 4.8 4x4 automatic

thanks

I dropped mine easily but i am 2wd. How much room is there between the oil pan and front diff?

well i started pulling it apart, got the pan dropped a little and the rear pickup support nut loose and it started pouring rain so im on hold for now. stupid florida.
it looks like i might be able to get it all done without lowering the front diff. i think you can unbolt it for a couple extra inches of clearance if needed.
hopefully i can get this turd buttoned up before work monday

well for archival's sake,
this is all possible but not necessarily easy. i got rained out a couple times but was able to get the pan down enough to loosen the rearward most pickup nut, then remove the middle nut, then swap orings and put it all back together.
i took off the pass side front diff nuts and the lower driver side bolt but still couldnt quite get the pan out. I think it would have been possible but i was worried about getting it back in and i never drained the oil, so whatevs.

Sorry, just saw this. Couldn't help you with pan specifics, but there is a great article on knowing how to pick the correct oil oring:

Choosing the right Oil Pick-up Tube O-Ring For Your LS Swap

Like you said - for archrival's sake.
