anyone done it? there are no belts involved with the EGR are there? thinking about doing it on my friend's 97 Z28 and was just curious how it works on the trucks. all you have to do is block the hole in the intake manifold and on the headers and it's a done deal right? has anyone done this to their truck? The Colonel lists removing the egr/air systems to save you almost 45#, and that would be weight lost in the best spot for us...UP FRONT.

well, i have seen it done. and i don't think it loses 45#'s unless i missed a major step. it will throw a code. so unless you have edit, get used to the ses light. but you are right on the blocking off the hole on intake and headers/manifolds. we don't have air here in ms, so that could be the extra weight.

I have removed mine. the pump is only like 6# at most. You will need to block off the hole in the intake and cap the hole on your headers. I used a block off plate from a 02 truck for the intake and just cut out an aluminum plate with gasket for the headers.

Just unscrew the single 10mm bolt on the intake, unscrew 2 10mm bolts on exhaust manifold. Cap off with block off plates you can buy from any of the vendors on this site. Remove pump bracket on passenger side of cylinder head by unscrewing 2 15mm bolts. This mod saves 2 or 3# IMO. Keiths truck responded very well to this mod, but he also has a good sized cam, etc.
