If I remove the cats on my 02 5.3 will I have to have the computer tuned ? also is it worth it to even do this ?
I am looking to do a couple of mods to my new truck. its an 02 ext cab with a 5.3 its main duty is towing my race car and its my everday truck.
Forgive me if I seem a little dumb on this issue. I am new to the whole efi stuff on these trucks. I have run efi in several of my past race cars but none of them had ob2 and up computers. Thanx in advance...

I wouldn't do it. I've done it but I wouldnt do it again. Not on the trucks. On the C5 I gained a decent amount but it made my trucks sound and smell like hell
Very little to zero gain without tuning as well. I've gone as far as to put high-flow cats back on my truck.
Not to mention what you are doing to the environment.
Too many people think that it doesn't matter or they don't count but once you educate yourself on the matter you realize that EVERYONE counts.
