I recomend doing a search in here for the best info.

That being said your best gains will come from removing them and doing a custom tune. You'll need to fix your LTrims to correct for gas milage and max power and turn off COTs.

careful a lot of people have removed the cats and lost power in lightly modded trucks you might do a search on that too just trying to help out

I would wager money to say it's because they didn't tune for it.

Without tuning it's a 50/50 shot IMO wether you lose or gain power. All depends on your trucks current tune.

leave your cats alone, it won't make it much louder. spend the money on a different muffler instead. between the tuning you will have to do and the cost of taking them out, you could do true duals.

I would like to do the same thing with mine. I have heard that some of these engines run off of back pressure. As far as I have allways heard to back o2s dont realy do any thing just the front 2 that do, tells the computer to run richer or leaner. I keep getting a P1153 code on mine witch is something to do with changing from rich to lean and lean to rich. Also what about headers? Made mine a little louder. Guess its just like F8L said 50/50!

Rear O2's are for cat efficiency and COT as far as I know. From what I have seen at shops with LS1's on the dyno, they tend to make more HP with little to no backpressure. Unless the 5.3's are really really different internal wise I dont think it would hurt ya. Im gonna cut mine off and turn off the rear O2's with Edit. Then have it tuned and I guess Ill see what happens. On another note, take the cat completely off. Dont just run a rod through it and clean the catalyst out. That creates a good amount of turbulence in the body of the cat.
