it will die eventually, 4l60 can barely handle the little v8's let alone the underrated 6.0L

If you are going to be puting in a 6.0, I would suggest to use the 4L80E trans, you can use the 4L60 but in time it will fail, I am installing a 6.0 (modified) 408 c.i. and going with a 4L80E with a transgo shift kit and changing out the clutches

Some guys on the forum have fiddled with it...some info here, but do a search to find more.

I have rebuilt the tranny alrady due to the 3rd and 4th gear clutch burning up. I had bigger clutches installed 1-4. Maybe I will run it til it craps on me again then buy a 4L80E

what i found out

wiring will work 99 - 03 4.8 5.3 6.0 all the same
pcm will work 99 - 03 4.8 5.3 6.0 all will run off each others, upgrade to motor installed cheap at dealer.

6.0 fly wheel holes will not line up to the 4l60e converter. need 4l80e trans

your courrent drive shaft will not work with a 4l80e it is too long.

diffrence between 4.8 and 5.3 pistons, crank and rods
6.0 has diffrent heads, pistons, crank and rods
everything else on motors 4.8 5.3 6.0 99 - 03 all the same

was working on my project until i found out money and time was wasted.
still looking for a 6.0 4l80e trans and drive shaft, swaped my 6.0 heads for powerdyne charger, swaped my 5.3 crank and rods and berrings for 75 nos shot, one of these days i will smoke that rice burnen weed eatter
