What do you think about a t-56 swap also, to make it a 6 speed.

So possible moding plans

built 6.0 swap?
vortech or procharger s/c kit
t-56 tranny swap?
Dynamaxx Long tubes
Sell stock engine with a couple hundred miles on it...and stock tranny....
Buy more parts

If you want to boost. Just look for a low mile LQ4 6.0. I payed 1250 for mine complete. If you cant find a complete motor you can use accessories off your 4.8. Anyways, the LQ4 is 9.4:1 compression. So they are relatively boost friendly. Im pretty sure you can put a 56 in there.

Damn, how much power do you think a 6.0 can hold reliably? especially if you went with say a lq9 head, becaues it would lower compression even more. And how difficult is the swap? need the 6.0 ecu and all wirings? or not.

Thanks for the help btw

LQ4 and LQ9 heads are the same 317 castings. Only difference is the pistons and rods. Parish was pushing some insane HP numbers with his boosted, juiced 6.0. He ended up frying a piston before the bottom end gave out. I cant remember exactlly what he was making power wise before he went to a 408 stroker. But they were fricking high. The swap is pretty straight forward and easy. Pretty much a plug and play type deal. You can use the 4.8 PCM until you can get tuned for the 6.0.

EDIT,

I checked a video 1320 made when Parish came to KC and dynoed. On his last pull his numbers were 624HP/680TQ @ 16PSI. He wasnst squeezing either.

So basically, What i should do.

Is find a low mileage to new lq4, swap it out, plug all the 4.8 accesories and wires on it, buy whatever s/c kit i end up with. then get the car tuned for that set up. should run around 7k-8k with both.

Now is it the same crappy 10 bolt rear differentials thats in the maro's? or since its a truck they gave it a heavier duty one, basically Am i gunna need new rear end/driveshaft/clutch, and will the t-5 hold those kinda power numbers, i wanna make sure i have everything planed out so i got a game plan I know mostly stuff about vw/hondas, and a decent amount about gm's since gm is by far the greatest american car company, if not company, i just dont know the limitations of their products

Sounds about right. You shouldnt need a new rear end unless you want to regear or the G80 gives up and explodes. But you will want a beefier clutch. Maybe a RAM or McLeod if you pop in a T56. Driveshaft might go bye-bye especially with a manual and a good amount of power. Several guys here have sheared theirs under power. A good tune will play a big part in how things turn out also. So a good shop to give you a good tune will be a big plus.

What you've found is a run-of-the-mill RST, Regency Sport Truck. 4.8L 5-spd, short throw shifter, 8mm wires, custom tune, shorty headers, K&N 77-Series intake kit, big brakes and 20's. If you plan on getting aftermarket seats, I'd buy yours...
