I'm looking for an LQ9 and can only find ones with 100k+ miles, would it be in my best interest to buy a used one for 1500 to 2000 and have it rebuilt locally or get one from an online retailer for 2800-3500? I just question getting a rebuilt from somewhere not local. I've seen one from pace performance and Thompson motorsports. I was going to wait to build a 408 but my truck is making a weird noise and I'm afraid my timeline might be pushed up and can't afford a built engine at this time.

 

I was considering this, until a new addition to my family came along and cut down my money tree lol I think shipping is free as well.

A 370 short block from Thompson is probably cheaper in the long run and better than a local shop doing a rebuild.

 

We seem to have good builders around here, but can't say I've dealt with them. Just seems easiest to get one already done and ready to go and swap it in on a weekend
