Picked my Truck up in Dec. of 01. after putting 1400 miles on it, it made a funny grinding noise when braking. Finally I got worried after it got louder a took it to my dealership. on the way there, mile down the road, the rear end was so loud I felt vibrations. they said that the rear end had a missalined bearing!? They replaced the yoke, seals, and bearing. Buddy's truck, same thing but it was bad seals. Has any one had this trouble too? Fixed now, no more problems, 10500 miles now.

i had a 2000 single cab silverado, and my rear end went out on me. i think mine was from severe wheel hop. one night i was taking a curve in the road going about 65 and the rear end just swung around on me and i lost control for about 3 seconds, thank god i didnt panic, because if i would have i know i would not maybe be alive today. i took it to a mechanic down the road from me and opened up the differential cover and low and behold...metal shavings!! i'd say it was about 2" high. the whole thing was tore up, very nasty looking. i beat that thing up really bad, so when it did go out i was suprised at all...
