Rear End Help
My limited slip seems to have a mind of its own.
It rarely works, right tire is the only one pulling, even though
it is a limited slip. I know these trucks will not allow the limited slip to engage past 20mph, but mine is at low speeds.
Yet in gravel or dirt it will turn both over.
Truck is 1999 Z71 ECSB with 5.3
Has 60,000 miles, rear end has been serviced at normal intervals.
Thanks in advance

This is the stock locking rear end, right?
If so, then yeah, these G80 / Eaton mechanical lockers can suck sometimes. They take about a 200rpm difference in wheel speed before they'll engage, and when they do it's with such a hard shock that it usually breaks the other tire free.
The last two trucks I had, had them. I couldn't stand them half the time in the snow. I'd light up a tire on accident, and have it kick in back there. It'd break the other tire free, spin up, and then start to peg-leg again.... only to repeat the whole cycle. Maybe it'll work fine for nervous soccer moms, but for agressive driving we really need better.
I'm a big fan of the old-school clutch pack type posi's.
