Default Rear end disassembly? is it hard to...

I torqued a stud in half on a rear wheel. So I am guessing that I have to pull the axle shaft to replace it? Has anyone ever done this and is it difficult to lign things back up when reinstalling the axle shaft?
Thanks
Ryan

no axle shafts are easy to take out, all you have to do is take off the wheel, caliper, and rotor, then take your diff cover off and pull the carrier pin and c-clip. it is a pretty easy job to get the axle out, and there are no alignment things that you need to worry about, you will not be messing with any of that, a haynes manual is very helpful if youve never done it, it gives good step by step directions for it

Did you break a wheel stud?? If so you should be able to tap it out and pull the new one in with some washers and a lugnut

Get the GM studs there not that much. They will need your VIN numbers because the rear studs are different than the front. I know PEP BOYS cross theaded 2 of mine and they paid for them. Be sure you put anti-seize on them to help them from seizing together. Just remove the rear calipers (there very tight) knox out the old insert the new.
