Rain+driving= malfuction
#1
Everytime I drive my truck in the rain the truck spits, sputters, shake's and back fires and occasionally die. What on gods green earth could cause it so I can fix it. Also, whenever I drive the truck and the engine isn't at opperating tempreature and it's 40 degree or cooler outside it wants to do the same thing. Runs like it did when my passenger side oxygen sensor kept going out? Any advice or solutions please?

Yea it sounds like a moisture issue to me. Its gonna be a little harder to trace down with the coil packs instead of cap n rotor, but its the same idea. Check all your plug wires and coils and make sure everything is tight. Also, go ahead and put some dielectric grease on all the connections. It displaces the moisture and itll help if thats where the problem lies.

Definitely a moisture issue, usually something electrical. Misfire while raining is an old dead giveaway of faulty secondary ignition components, ie: wires. (as mentioned your truck does not have a cap and rotor). Although anything that's electrical and can use the moisture as a path for current to flow through could be at fault. I'd try some new plugs and wires first, and if that doesn't fix it, you may have to get your hands on a scan tool or scanning software to view the data and see if one of the sensors goes out of whack when the problem occurs. Do a visual inspection for any damaged wires...rodents love to chew through wires, as do squirrels. I found a squirrel chewing through two of my #2 injector wires, unfortunately I didn't get there in time and he ate right through them...that was a fun day.

Ok sounds good. I do know for a fact I have a pin hole size leak right before my collector on the passenger side header. I think the weld didn't set right when they welded the flange on. Yeah I'll check all the wires and make sure they're good. I'm sure it needs new plugs too because I drove it around for a few thousands miles with a burnt up o2 sensor.
