Angry RADIX: scraping, sticking bypass valve

The past few weeks I've been noticing a sort of surging condition on my truck, an '03 4.8 w/ Radix s/c. It was like I press on the gas and get normal power w/ no s/c whine then suddenly the s/c kicks in and the truck surges forward. It felt like either the bypass valve or the throttle valve was sticking (note: I have electronic throttle). A co-worker drove my truck and corfirmed the feeling. Today I opened the hood and moved th bypass valve linkage by hand. I noticed that near the full-vacuum region I could both hear and feel the scraping of metal on metal, as if the butterfly valve is dragging against the opening. The throttle body valve checked out OK, so the bypass valve is most likely the culprit. Needless to say I am p*ssed. I bought the s/c in April or May so it should still be under warranty, but getting it fixed probably means taking it off and shipping it back to Magnacharger. Since I threw out the stock parts I took off, this means my truck will be laid up while the fixing and shipping is done, thkis during the spring when I need my truck the most for yard work!! Anyway it's probably what I'll do, but I just need to rant. Thanks for listening. This is what I get for modding my truck. Should have left it stock.

Sorry to hear you are having problems; if the bypass is the culprit...it is an isolated case. Please contact me first thing in the morning and I will supply you with an RGA number, if you ship the supercharger to me Tuesday Via UPS I will have it back to you the following Tuesday or sooner. I understand your frustration; we stand behind our systems and will do everything it takes to make it right. Please call me at 805-642-8833 x 243

Thanks,
Brian
