Default Raced a Mustang Gt 01 Got a few Ques !

My friend just got this used 01 GT and wants to race. All he's got on the car are some dual tips that run single in and dual out dont even think its a custom exhaust. All ive got on my 5.3 is the flowmaster 40 series. We got up to the first light, i dropped my truck into 3rd with the tow haul on (automatic) and hes revving his up like its a standard acting bad. We floor it at the light and i stomp on him. He said it was because he had it in 2nd but who knows for sure. The next race we go at it , and ive got him at the light for about 3 to 5 seconds and then he wastes me. So my question is what other mods can i get for my truck that will shut my friend up about his ford. Also im planning to get a UPD intake(carbon fiber for my truck within the next 3 weeks.

How long until the next race? How much money would you spend to beat this guy?

AHH ther was no 5.0 in 01 and he probably would stay with that 4.6 for a bit.

An 01' Gt does not have a 5.0. There is a way to beat them. They are not that fast.
I can beat an automatic GT with my 6.0, but I a 5-speed GT will slowly and I mean slowly walk away from me on the highway. From light to light, I'll beat either an auto or 5-speed GT.
So, basically a RCSB 5.3L should be pretty damn close to beating a 99-04 auto or 5-speed GT. The new body style GT, I will have to say no on stomping on that one unless he goes with forced induction.
Give Nelson Performance a call for a good custom tune. Do most of all your simple bolt on parts there are to be had first.
If that doesn't do it, then you can go a few different routes:
-Aftermarket cam and heads
-Supercharger, turbo, or NOS
-Aftermarket cam, heads, and forced induction
-Buy a new Corvette
One of these will get you stomping that GT's A$$.

Dude go with some 4.10's and a 3000 or 2600 stall.... Youll waste him from the light to light everytime..

Gears Stall Cam. I dont remember what they run, but a guy in a club around town has one with a little done to it and he only runs mid 14's. A buddy of mine swapped a 6.0 into his rcsb and with the stock 4.8 tuning he runs 14.5's. So it wouldn't take much to beat him with a 5.3. i haven't done much to my Z-71, and I run 15.5's. I would suggest gears for sure, they will quicken you up ALOT. I picked up a couple 1/10's with LS1 fans. P/P Tb at home And a couple of free mods. I don't have my cam in yet, or a tune, or an intake, or my exhaust yet.
Good luck and kick that furds A$$

I agree with cammin, 4.10's, posi, stall, air intake and a good program will probably give him all he wants from light to light. The cheapest ,quickest way could be nitrous though. 75 or 100 shot and you will waste him. Good luck!

An 01 gt runs in the mid 14's, and with a set of gears and probably a good tune you should come out on top
