Default Quieter exhaust

I must be getting too old, cause its getting too loud. lol. I have manifolds through pipe to a 4x9x11 Magnaflow. With the cats, it sounded great, now its too raspy and too loud. The raspiness kills me with the cutout open, but its still bad with it closed.. I want something quiet, and when I want it loud, I'll just open the cut out.
I was planning on adding a bullet as a resonator, will this fix my problem? and will the small one be enough, or since I have such a small Magnaflow, should I go with the longer one? Thanks

Get the the biggest case that Borla Pro-XS makes,,, its the one I have its like a 22"case?? and I have no cats and it is real quiet at cruising speeds,, with the cutout open it is real loud and raspy but I have no cats so thats probably why...

I was trying not to spend that much. I rode in a truck with a LS1 TR224 cam on a 114 LSA, with a bullet then a Magnaflow, and loved the sound. My truck has a 6L, and a very close cam and just a small Magnaflow. I like it, its just too loud now. I was hoping I could just spend 35-40 bucks and have the problem solved.

I installed two Magnaflows, one in front of the other. Cost me about $150 for the mufflers (easy to find a good price online for Magnaflows) and another $75 for welding. I had a lot of room, you won't have as much with a RCSB, but the cool thing about the Magnaflows is that they come in so many sizes that you can tailor the mufflers for your vehicle.

Tip #1 - Get 5 x 8 ovals over the 4 x 9 ovals...that extra 1" in height makes a bigger difference in sound reduction, more so than the extra 1" in width does.

Tip #2 - If you can afford to have two tailpipes bent, get a single-in dual-out muffler (5 x 11), which will further dampen sound.

See the attached pic, which shows my setup:

I put on a Pro-FLo for 100, it almost sounds like stock when going 60+ so it is nice when driveing on highways

Nice. I dont have that much room though. I really just wanted one tailpipe, and want to keep my cutout. I was planning on welding the cutout right at the collector, to a bullet, then to the Magnaflow then running a tailpipe out BEHIND the rear tire. BTW two 3" tailpipes would be $$$$

BTW, I like the nice low rumble, and could deal with the loudness if I can get rid of the rasp, but quieter would be nice

If you replace the bullet with a short 5 x 8 Magnaflow, I think that would help considerably. The come as small as 14" in length.

If you want to go further, that 4 x 9 Magnaflow is not the best as far as quiet is concerned for a main muffler, 5 x 11 is best. They come in single-in, single-out.
