Default Quick PCM question

I am trying to upgrade my 2000 pcm to a 2002, I am told the computers are alot better. I have a friend that owns a junk yard and he found me a 2002 PCM from an Avalance, 5.3 A4. But the guy wants $125 for it. He has a PCM from a 2002 S-10 that he swares is the same part # as the Avalance, and can be tuned for my 2000 Silverado. Will this PCM work in my truck????

It will work so long as the S10 is/was a 4.3L. The 2.2L S10 uses a PCM that looks the same but is not compatible.

Also, it's not the PCM that is better from 2000 to 2002, it's the software on the PCM. You can use your same PCM and install a 2002 Operating System on it and achieve all of the benefits that you're looking for.

what are the benefits of changing the OS or the comp? i got a 99 with 175K miles i wouldnt mind something to improve the condition.
