Quick ls1 question

quick question. my buddy is buying a 98 ws6 today and it has an ls1 with 709 heads. would my 243's fit on it ? our other buddy with a 97 ls1 said his engine has a special relief cut into the deck surface that wouldnt allow them too. just wondering
