Default Questions about radiator...

I have a 2004 Silverado 5.3 with factory tow package. When I measure the radiator, what do I measure? Just the core, or do I include the tanks? Overall width is 34-inches, but the core alone is about 28-inches. What size radiator do I have? There is also an auxiliary cooler mounted in front of the radiator (oil cooler?). I'd like to convert to the e-fans, but I wanta know where I'm starting first . Thanks.

That's the small radiator. I just replaced my small rad with the big one today. Mine old one measures ~28" at the core.

Only measure the core. The stock 5.3's have a 28" core, the stock 6.0's have a 34 inch core. The extra cooler in front of the radiator is your heavy duty transmission cooler. Pretty puny huh?

Thanks. And, hey, I figure that tranny cooler is better than nothing, right? Was there any noticeable performance change with the e-fans? I did this mod to my last truck (97 Dakota 5.2) and it was noticeable, especially how relatively smooth and quiet it became. Throttle response was enhanced as well.

Not sure if the gains were noticable (did my 05 efans last week), but it's definitely quieter. I've been getting on it alot so it feels faster, but that might just be the placebo effect. Guys have reported gaining .2 in the 1/4 and about 8-10 rwhp? if I remember correctly. I would think decreasing the drag on the engine has to be worth something though.

It's gonna make a HUGE difference for me during the summer, where the clutch fan is locked up most of the time. I'm pretty much used to my fans now, and yesterday I drove mom's 00 Burban and the drag from the locked clutch fan was nasty.
