Default Question regarding a 6.0L intake manifold

I have 4.8L that I am removing, and replacing with a (408) 6.0L. My question is: Will I need to buy a O.E. 6.0L intake manifold or is my intake thats on the 4.8L the same. If not does anyone recommend an aftermarket intake, except the LSX, I heard they take alot of modifications to get them to fit. I am also planning on using the factory 8.1L injectors. I appreciate any info on this................

All the truck intakes are the same. The only difference is some of the older trucks had EGR and the newer ones don't so there is no provision for it on the newer intakes. Other than that they are the same though.

The injectors will fit fine and only require some tweaking of the IFR table in the computer to get them to work right.

Sounds like a nice truck you got, keep us posted on how it turns out.

XLR8NSS> Thanks for that information, very helpful. when you say older trucks what years are you refering to, I don't believe mine has an EGR valve but I will look again. Thanks again

So is it just a direct swap, what all did you have to do to put the 6.0 in there.

I want to say you're right but, I'm not sure either.

My 2000 Sierra has EGR for sure.

1999-2001 had EGR. 2002+ does not. The intake on my factory 5.3L had a block off plate over the egr hole. The intake on my 2003 6.0L has no hole at all.

I have not swapped anything yet, I just got my 4L80E trans built and now I am in the process of putting this 6.0L (408) together. Once eng. and trans are done, thats when I will be doing the swap, probably by the end of oct.
