Question on bug shield
#1
I have a 2002 GMC Sierra Z71 and I bought a lund bug shield. The porblem is that it makes a wierd ratteling noise arround the passenger side. I replaced it with a different one and it did the same thing. I then made sure the antenna was secure. It was. It doesnot seem to be the antenna shaking when I am going. Does anybody have any ideas on what it is and how I should take care of my problem. I would not put a bug shield on in the first place but with the ammount I drive and where I drive, it is a necessity b/c I am sick of cleaning my windsheild every night just so I can see out it.

I've got a Lund on my 2000 Silverado and it has no rattles. What I did was mounted the guard in place and then positioned the bump stops evenly under the guard without sticking them on. Once everything looked good I pulled back one portion of the guard at a time and stuck the bumpers to the guard...not the hood. Worked out really well. Hope this helps ya.

I purchased a Lund for my 2001 x/cab and have noticed that when I get in a crosswind running down the highway I get a drumming on my roof. I have talked with a couple of friends with the extended cabs and they have the same problem. The bug deflector seems to change the aero dynamics of the truck enough that the wind will drum on the roof.

The Lund bug shield causes the rubber strips on each side of the windshield to flap, get some 3M tape and seal them and your noise will go away.

Yeah - sounds to me like the windshield gasketing as well. The tape fix gandolphxx describes should cure the problem. Also, if you're expecting the bug shield to keep your windshield cleaner, you'll be dissapointed. In my opinion, all they do is keep stone chips off the front of your hood. I have an EGR bugshield, and I can't tell any difference in the bug splats on the windshield.
