Default question about sts turbo!!!!!!!!

Well a buddy of mine got a group purchase setup with some performance shop here in houston, me, and 2 of my buddys can purchase a sts rear mounted turbo, injectors, nelson tune, and all gauges for 4 grand, and the even better thing is is that we can get it financed for monthly payments, now my question is how good is a sts on DD? My truck is my everyday driver so I need to know if I can use it everyday and not have to worry about anything blowing up, thx fellas

I've been DD mine for about a year now and probable a little over 20k miles. The only problem I've had was 1 time when it was really cold out (below 0*) it blew the oil pump fuse, cuz it couldn't pump the thick oil in low speed and got oil in the tail pipe and intake pipes. I took them off and cleaned them out and all was good. I called STS and they told me they now include a switch that lets you run the pump on high when it cold out.

I'm VERY happy with mine!!!

Thats one good thread you got there

How is the STS set up going to change the exhaust note?

I have been planning on a borla cat-back because I have always like the sound, and its not very loud....(although I am starting to lean towards Corsa)
But with a turbo that replaces the muffler...there goes the Borla sound I would assume

I would say it is good deal for the $4k.... I was just reading some other post on turbo's and it says it does not affect the sound of the muffler, the muffler actually affects the whistle out of the turbo... or something like that...

what size STS is it?

by the way what shop is this in houston??? pm me some details...

You dont need to do exhaust mods with the STS. Leave the stock piping and manifolds on and just stick a small muffler after the turbo and you're done. LTs dont really help much and neither will a cat0back exhaust. Now no cats or highflow cats may be an option due to the chances of melting the stock ones.
