Question Question about programmers???????

Fellas, just wandering what major advantages I could expect from a power programmer. I currently have a 99 STPSD w/ 5.3 Z71, K&N FIPK, Gibson exhaust, and plan on running 285/75/16's. Basically I would like to know what a HP programer could do for my truck. I read about the HP changing shift points and recallibrating your speedometer for differnt size tires, but what can it do for fuel economy and/or performance. Any input on topics above or anything I have missed would be greatly apprecciated. Thank You.

My Hypertech knocked about a half of a second off of my ET. As for "economy", I don't think you will see much. I've tried a few "economy" enhancing mods....such as programmer, exhaust, intake (they say if it is making more power it must be more efficient????) and even have a tonneau cover, yet my mileage remained around the same. These are V8 pickup trucks...."economical" isn't really in their vocabulary!
