I think it might do the same thing. I don't know the internal controller logic obviously but did look at the pdf/wiring schematic. Best I remember it has the AC clutch hard wired to it. Potential it kicks the fan on with the A/C just as the nelson harness. Don't know.

Sorry If we hi-jacked this thread.....

Do you have a link for that?

Never mind. I just found it online. That doesn't solve your problem. It doesn't look like the Dakota Digital Controller will activate the fans with the A/C at all, only temperature sensitive.

You could hook up the Nelson Harness the same way, and use the factor PCM to control the fans based on Temp. Just leave the A/C wire off and they would work the same way, without the add on controller.

if thats the case then how come in the instructions it says you have to tap into the a/c compressor wire? plus i want the add on controller cause its only $10 more and its alot more than just a bunch of wires which is what u get from nelson, and i wont have to reprogram the computer, and if something messes up im sure it will be alot easier to fix then havin to hook up sumin to the truck and figure out what is wrong

Instead of tapping into the Ac on My N. Harness I ran the lead to a toggle swicth and took the ground and 12+ off the cigarette lighter.
All you need is a small millivolt jolt to trigger the relay. When i flip the swicth the fan comes on High.

For the most part I don't use the swicth much. Both fans coming on low with the pcm is enough for our climate up here.

I have burned up 2 vsc's from flex a lite... and they have sent me a new on, but, I have wire on w/ ignition...all the time....it isn't terrible, except for the noise at idle...it is rather distictive now....i like it.
There is also another controller out there...i liked it 'cause it controlled the fans variably not just 1,2,or 3 speeds. I'll look for the link and post later.

I'm in the same boat. I found that when I ran the fans on high all the time, I was overheating the fuse, wiring, and VSC. So instead of having a ground supplied to the manual ON terminal, I supplied my ground wire to the A/C negative terminal. This puts the fans on a medium speed all the time. There is less current draw and much less noise, but its still plenty cool.

How do the factory 05 e-fans operate? Does a fan come on every time the a/c compressor cycles, or is there a temp/pressure sensor that commands a fan to cool the condensor?

I'm working on a solution that will only turn the fan on when the line pressure exceeds a certain limit, when this happens the fan will kick on.

Like metioned above, both fans on low usually cools the a/c and engine just fine. Plus it's nice a quite.

I'll keep you guys updated on the new harness.

Another option would be to find the wire that is active when the a/c button is on in the cab and have the fan run all the time, that way it doesn't cycle. It won't hurt the fan being on all the time.

later,

allen
