Default Question about adding an electric fan.

Have a friend that had an electric fan added by the dealer for a 2004 Silverado to improve A/C performance at idle. I have a 2003 and would like to do something similar. Has anyone found a fan that can be fitted to the truck without a lot of modifications? Thanks for any help.

If you do a search you should find lots of info in this subject.

I went with the Flex-a-lite kit. The Flex-a-lite kit is really nice, easy, and moves a lot of air, but it's not cheap. You can do it much cheaper.

One popular fan to use are the ones off 1993 to 2002 F-bodys.

My A/C is ice cold all the time now, even in stop and go and at stop lights.

When not using the A/C the fans rarely come on, which has to help gas mileage.

Yep, ls1 fans are the preferred choice, but if you want to upgrade the radiator as well, the 34in rad and fans from 05 and up gm trucks will be a direct fit

Thanks for the quick replies. I was mainly interested in keeping the factory mechanical fan due to cost, and adding an electric fan to help out with idle and low speed A/C. This is what the dealer did for the guy with the 2004 when it was still under warranty. I believe it had to do with a TSB about the same problem I have. I assumed it was a GM kit and probably absurdly priced.
