Default QTP electrice cutouts

I read some reletively old posts about these - does anyone have these installed and if so do you like them and do they leak?

Would there be any gain in power with lt headers and high flow cats with the cutout open? or would it just be really loud?

I'm sure you will see an improvement. I know by putting a 3" cutout in front of my Flowmaster, with the stock cats and manifolds and I saw a one tenth decrease in my 1/4 time. You may see 2 tenths since you have the 5.3 while I had the 4.8.

Hey, yes I have them on my 62 Nova and they work good. Its nice to pull up to a light when someone wants to race, push a button and they back down, skeered I guess My cutouts leak a little, don't close fully. You can hold the button closed and they shut, but when you release the button that crack open a hair. Not too big of a deal for me, since the car is loud anyway. Some guys on here are having good luck with it, many cycles. McCord makes one too, just fyi. I haven't tried those yet, supposed to be better quality though. Ok my .02 ran out. Hope this helps.

mudz - can you hear them leaking? My truck is reletively mellow sounding even with the lt headers and high flow cats - (I have a large Muffler but it is free-flowing) - Would I be able to hear the QTP leaking? And while it is closed would there be any loss of power?

Anyone heard of 'custom performance cutouts' ? I just came across their site and it looks exactly the same as QTP or McCord but cheaper

Thanks for any help

Hey all, you can hear it leaking, but I haven't heard of this problem yet other than me. I posted about E cutouts a while ago and no one has had this problem. So you shouldn't go off of my experience. I like the idea but not too worried about the noise.

If I were you, I would go with a DMH cutout. I have a QTP on my camaro and to be honest, its the biggest piece of crap I've put on the car. I've had nothing but problems with it and there customer service is horrible. I've heard nothing but good things about the DMH (I'm on camaroz28.com all the time.) Heres the website: http://www.dmhperformance.com/ Hope this helps.

By the way, this is my first post

I have the Mccord MPP2 on mine and mine leaks a little in the fully closed position. But your can really here it leak on the passenger side of the truck the most. I have mine installed just after the factory Y pipe. From what i understand both Mccord and Quick times cutout openers leak.
