A guy i work with told me he had a set a 5.3 heads that he just got back from the shop. Said they were pnp, milled .10 (i believe), and a new angle valve job (i think thats what he said, some kind of valve job). I dont know enough about it tell whether or not he actually had it done. My question is there any way to tell all this was done by looking at them? I know i have to buy new head bolts and gaskets, is there anything else i need if i do buy them. BTW he said he would help put them on if i buy them. He's asking 500. He also said he had corvette springs put in. Thanks in advance. Also if i do buy the heads where's a good place to buy the studs and gaskets.

 

What casting number or theses heads?
Bolts & gaskets can be bought @ the dealer.

 

not sure yet, gonna check them out tomorrow, he told me they came off a 04 5.3

 

Post up some pictures. So be easy to tell if they been p&p.

 

If its stock gm heads from a 04 5.3 its a 706 or 862 casting head

Worth 500 not really but i am sure that what he has in work from the machine shop

I paid $350 for a performance valve job with bowl work,milled .040 at wall2wall racing
ls6 corvette valve springs are $60 new

 

so basically id be better off just getting my own heads reworked?

 

Save your money and buy a set of TSP 5.3 heads OR WCCH cnc ported heads used they go for 8-1000
New they cost $1100-1300 depending on head options

scroggins dickie sells there ported 5.3 heads for $1000 new
