I have a question about the probe/wire location of the Pyrometer, with those of you running a STS Turbo. There is no way that the supplied wire from auto meter will reach the probe. The length of the wire will affect the reading of the gauge so what have you done?
Installed the probe as close to the turbo as possible? (In-between the engine and turbo, should be mounted behind turbo.)
Or lengthen the wire?
I believe you can never have too many gauges.

Since the EGT's will indicate the health of the engine rather than the turbo would you not want the probe close to the cylinder banks? I have one on each side of my Duramax in the exhaust manifolds.
If you are looking for a temp close to the turbo to determine what kind of heat you will have to generate boost then I will STFU so I can learn what you guys are doing to tune.

You want the pyro as close to the engine as you can get it. Right after the manifold would be good. Shouldn't mater what side you put it on, since your only doing 1. The whole point of knowing your exhaust temp is so you can see how hard your engine is running and if it is in the right temp range. If you put it back by the turbo, these too many variables that will cool the exhaust and you don't really know what's going on with the engine.
As far as wire lengths, I don't think it would affect the reading much if you use good wire the same gauge and solder the connection if you need to lengthen them.

It does matter where your EGT probes goes.
IMO its' best to have it in the collector. That way you get a good average of what your temps are. Ideally you would have at least two EGT probes, or even one for each cylinder! yes they make those as well.

999.99 is a little too much for a gauge, but if I had the money.........
