pully install

getting ready put my pully on. i have never taken the crank pully of befor but from what i hear it is torqued like crazy. but i have a plan for breaking it loose. throw a breaker bar on it snug to the frame and tap the ignistion.

also dose anyone no the torque specs for when i put the new one on?

supposed to be 130#'s i believe, if ya get 90-100#'s with the torque wrench you'll be fine.

I'd advise to just keep your plugs in and continue to hit it with an impact...it'll build compression and work with you to take it off.

I used a breaker bar and torque wrench last thing you need is to break that bolt then your in trouble. yo have to lock the flywheel from turning. Use the search feature and get the proper install.

You'll be paying to pull the engine and get the broken crank bolt out of the crank if you break the head off. Ask how I know. Use an impact to get the old one out.

Be sure to get a new crank bolt. Don't re-use your old one except to initially get the new pulley on. Seat it with the old one, back it out, put the new one in, and impact it down.

Torque specs are:

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt (First Pass-New Bolt) 50 N·m 37 lb ft
Crankshaft Balancer Bolt (Final Pass-New Bolt) 140 degrees

That being said, most guys just torque the crap out of them with an impact and don't have issues.

I meant get the proper install procedure and if your also paying for college I bet an installer would be cheaper than breaking the bolt in your crank.

if your impact wont take it off. you can always heat the bolt a little and then it will just zip right out.
i always just put the new pulley on wiht the old bolt. and then put the new bolt in and crank down on it with the impact. ive never had one come off.

spend the time and money to do things right the first time, whatever project you do. please!!

get a 140 mm GRADE 8 bolt, and rent the pulley puller from the parts store. that SOB is on there!! get a friend to get under the truck, pull the inspection cover by the starter, and use a big screwdriver to jam the flywheel, very slowly rotate the motor until the screwdriver is snug, then apply torque to get the factory bolt out. then put your longer bolt in and install the puller tool. it takes a while, but do it right. it will cost you 10 times as much if you rush it and furck it up!

haha yeah the whole crank the engine thing was just something i heard. im going to get the pulley puller and all that. i sure as hell can't afored to break something, i got too many other mods in my mind. thanks for the info and torque specs
