Default Programmers

I need to buy a programmer soon so I can get my gears installed.

I'm looking for the absolute best programmer performance/features, regardless of money.

Seems that most here recommend the Diablo over the Hypertech, thats well and good but thats only part of the problem.

How about the other two brands though SPE Proflash any good? How about the Superchips Micro Tuner?

Another question, Are those brands listed the only options for programmers?

The final consideration is gasoline. I will run 91 octane, I'll make that sacrifice for the performance, but the problem is that 91 is as good as it gets around here. Unless I'm mistaken most of the programmers are for 87 (blah) or 92 or 93. Could I run the 93 program on the Diablo (or one of the others-you tell me) with 91 octane fuel?

Finally, I was just wondering, how is the computer set up on the newer trucks (what does it look like, how does it work)? Seems that there are no chips available, like on the older Vortechs. Where is the computer located? I'm almost positive I want a programmer (cuz they do everything) but what other computer related options are there? (gadgets and whatnot)

...and whats this LS1 Edit stuff? Are there any other options like this LS1 edit? What do they do, how do they work?

The only things I've heard about those other programmers is what I've heard on here and that was they were mostly a headache. I honestly think you only being able to run 91 octane is all the more reason to go with the Predator because it lets you back the timing down (if necessary) to quiet any pinging. Just my $.02

So the Predator rules eh (Outstanding control (Ultimate being LS1Edit))? I think I'll get the predator then. Thanks.

You will definitely be happy with the predator. All I can get is 91 octane and with my predator and the few mods I have I dont get any pinging or other problems.

LS1edit is the way to go IF you are planning to seriously drag race your truck BUT the predator seems to be best for a regular daily driver.
