In the process of porting intake. Please read and respond.

I posted this in the external engine forum but, got no responses.
I am in the process of porting my truck intake. I have opened the intake tunnel (after the TB) a good amount. I have also used epoxy to cover the EGR hole and also removed the EGR block-off plate that sticks into the intake about a 1/2 inch.
I will start to modify the runners. I have done several searchs and found that you don't want to open them up all you can at the head. You want to keep some of the funnel effect of the stock runner, getting the air to speed up as it enters the head. Keeping the velocity up. Opening up the intake will decrease velocity but, with the bigger motor I am sure it will help.
I am not using any power tools. I am using sandpaper and it seems to be working fine and keeping the surface smooth. However, it is slow as hell.
Well what do ya'll think? I know another intake would help me but, I will try this until my bills shrink. I just got eye surgery and I am very poor at this moment.

I'm not sure what to tell you there. I didn't know that it was even anything to do there. I wonder if you had a good head (AFR 205) if you would rather have the ports matched up. It's none and understood that the AFR's having a small runner and high flow comparatively speeking would be suffiecient.
What kind of eye surgery was it? I had a surgery a while back on my eyes. It was a muscle surgery (NOT lasic's)

Nice list of mods in your signature!
As for your post, most every article I have read says to not mess with the intake runners at all on the stock intakes. The aftermarket LSx intake is portable and has markers on the edge to indicate how much material can be removed.
I have seen some other posts relating to this topic and the feelings run both ways. I think the hand porting idea is best so as to not remove too much material or mismatch the runner length/size. This could cause more problems than it solves.
You may want to look into a larger/ported throttle body. Porting your intake won't gain you much if the up-river flow is not increased at the sam time.
Good luck, let us know how things turn out!

I had LASIC surgery. I was going to buy some new glasses and contacts for a year, addind up to around $850. So I steped up and got the surgery. Cost $3350 and worth every penny. I got a payment plan but, after 12 months the interest goes from 0 to 22.4%.
Another $300 a month payment is hard at this time of year.
I know that porting the intake is tricky and I am not going to gain 100rwhp or anything. However, I am installing a LS6 PCV system and rejetting the fogger. I will have the intake off so why not play with it. I plan to just open the bottom of the runner up alittle. It looks as if the upper part of the runner is plenty big.
I have already opened the TB and TB intake tunnel up. I will look at the MAF and see if anything can be done there.
