I just installed a set of stainless works headers (2004 z71 rcsb) and while the fitment is perfect and every gasket and surface is sealed properly the collectors are leaking badly. I verified it was the collectors with a scope and multiple people listening.

Also I've had headers on vehicles in the past and used stainless works products (with great success) on my old 4th gen TA. So I know what to expect when it comes to increased noise and this is completely different. At this point it embarrassing to drive As the leaks are louder than the exhaust note.

Has anyone else run into these issues? Has their qc fallen off in the past 7 years since I last had their products?

 

I've never had a problem until on one project I had the muffler shop weld the headers to exhaust pipe and had leaks up top where they couldn't see. How to you have yours?

 

Slip fit with Thier y pipe, accu seal clamps and the rtv they suggested.

 

I had their down pipes on my Ecoboost and no matter what I tried, I could not get them to stop leaking at the turbos. I finally gave up and got rid of them.

 

Yeah get rid of the rtv and use a Gm gaskets and no issues

 

i actually had a primary tube blow off.... it scared the living **** out of me. i thought i blew up my engine

 

Manifold gaskets are new gm.

Slip fit uses rtv per their instructions.

Qc is not looking real promising, guess I will be contacting them next to see just how good their lifetime warranty is.

 

Had SW headers on my SRT Cherokee, leaked like hell. Slip fit sucks

 

Slip fit is terrible for leaks.

 

Band clamp the joint there made of stainless 9.99 at most parts stores.. Also check motor mounts for excessive play you can have everything right but the mounts will cause a hard time for leaks.
