Fsctory Dmax exhaust is 3.5".... get you a stock Dmax turboback off a truck configured like yours and swap the mufffler to one of your choice and you should be set.

So a dmax exhaust would hook up to the stock y-pipe with out any mods as long as i came from a dmax with the same body as my truck?

Duramax exhaust will need to be modified, but not extensively. I think it's a metter of mating it to the y-pipe, and then shortening the hangars, and maybe cutting up a few other pipes. And exhaust shop can probably do it easily. To my knowledge, there is no direct-fit 3.5" systems for the gas engines.

I put dmax exhaust on my '02. The exhaust hangers are all the same, just have to get a piece of pipe made to make it fit with your y-pipe flange. I swapped my muffler out for a aero turbine 3535, and then dumped it over the axle with the leftover pipe.

Thanks Fix it man, Could you give me the details on how you had a piece of pipe made to make it fit the y-pipe?

Thanks

Yeah. I got an exhaust from a eclb I was told. it still had the muffler, but was cut before the cat.

The picture above is my final setup before I put it back under the truck. the piece to attach to the y is actually the tail pipe piece (the one that pokes out behind the tire), with the proper angle cut into it to fit the y. Then I also plasma cut out the original pipe from the flange to make it a little larger inside. Then cleaned up with a die grinder to make it smooth inside.

Welded the straight section to the curved piece that's designed to go around the frame crossmember, the hanger on that curved piece is the same between the hd and half ton frame fyi. welded my muffler in at the end of the curved piece, and then the other piece pf the tail pipe upside down to make it go over the axle.

and how it exits. my tip is a little higher than I like it to be, making it sound quiter since the sound doesn't bounce off the pavement.
