Default Power expected from Z06 cam
I was wondering how much hp and tq i would gain and where would it be in the powerband with the 02' Z06 cam in my 00' 5.3L. Also what would it idle like and would i need a higher stall converter

everything i have heard says it would idle just fine. I think the power will be alot more mid and upper with the 02 z06 cam so yes you would need a stall. IMO

According to my book.

Basline 5.3 (stock)
293hp 324tq

After Z06 cam
332hp 335tq


Remember this is all at the FLYWHEEL!!!!

is that the same power gain expected with the 01 zo6 cam, if not what would be the gain, i plan on shifting at 6500 with my current setup and 01 cam, input would be highly appriciated

thanks for the info guys. What about the hot cam is there any differance in power and which would be better for a daily driver.

i personally never liked the idle of the hotcam in ls1's....

the sure the z06 would be the better of the 2... the 01's powerband is a tad lower than the 02 mainly because of the LSA

A '01 Z06 is rated 385hp in '02 it went to 405hp.
