Default is it possible to use 706 heads on a 408stroker?

im on a budget right now until maybe the summer and im about to order my 408 stroker.. but im not gonnahave enough money for the L76/92 heads manifold package.. so i was wondering if i can use the 706 heads off my 5.3 or if i can use some 243s

Physically you can use them, but they will limit power. Another thing to consider is the compression ratio you want from this motor. Starting with small heads might mean a larger dished piston, but then buying larger heads in the future would lower your CR. A set of 6L 317 heads might be a little better choice.

5.3 heads on a 408 is like trying to stuff a gerbil through a mouse hole.

If you are trying to stay with some inexpensive stockers get some 243's for sure... the 706's could do decent if they are ported all to **** and back but its almost not even worth it since you'll have a bunch of money wrapped up in a head you really cant use on that motor efficiently. The 243's will do you much better until you get what you are looking for.

243's, i talked to a builder not too long ago and he said they would be fine for a 402.
