Red face Possible mistake

Okay, super pumped today picking up my VHO from the local muffler guy. had him install a dual 3" in/single 3" out Magnaflow (#12298). sounds mean as **** when it cranks. But...

OMG the cab resonance!!! At 60 mph +/-, i might kill someone. What gives? he just replaced the muffler, re-used stock 3" tailpipe. I thought I copied some other installs, but no one said anything about this.

The muffler Magnaflow uses in their catback kit for your truck uses a dual 3" in single 4"out I believe. Least wise thats what they use on a 1500HD. I am not sure how much of a difference that makes and the 1500HD has some drone to it to from 1500-1900 rpm and low throttle openings. I used to down shift a gear if it bothered me. Keep the rpms above 2000 and the sound is much nicer but still loud. I got use to it pretty quick. Now with the STS turbo muffler there is no drone put the exhaust is definately louder with just a 3" tail pipe.

I guess Magnaflows and a certain amount of drone go hand in hand on a 6.0L.

I've heard the 6.0Ls are notorious for droning with aftermarket mufflers. Did you get an 18 or 21 in case?

You need a big ol' muffler for that 6.0. The only one I am aware of that will not resonate you into the insane asylum is the FloPro HD. Forget the Flowmaster HD, it resonates. The Magnaflows seem to work for about half of those who try them. The FloPro HDs seem to always work. Just my 2 cents. Don't get discouraged. Take it back and have them reinstall the stocker.

You need to get the largest cased magnaflow they offer to keep down the drone. The flopro does work real well.

Thanks guys...

Yep I drove from Austin to Galveston this weekend; and I can't take it. Maybe if I was 17 again it would be okay. BigTex, now that I think about it, I bought the 5" X 8" case which might be the problem. So if anyone is in the market for that one, I will be selling it as soon as I can get a replacement. Anyone have a link or part # for the ProFlo?

18". I already have my eye on a 22" 5" X 11" Magnaflow, and I have looked at the Flo-Pro. I need to find a vendor for the Flo; any recommendations for the guys on the right? ====>
